2023 got us many new food places but it also saw many eateries closing in Karachi. Some because they were evolving into a different business model, some because their owners were migrating or some because well, times are tough for businesses in general and that can mean shutting shop for a while.
Eateries in Karachi That Closed in 2023
The Verge – one of our favourite places for cheeseburgers and iftar platters – closed this year. Their last social media post was on 27th August and they stopped operations shortly afterwards. We hope something else is on the cards for them!
Pinch & Co
Pinch & Co – a place we used to frequent for its friday pop-ups, beef sandwiches and desserts is now also closed for dine-in. Their last social media post was on 30th July. They seem to have created a separate page for catering and limited takeaway orders, called caterNme.
Sugar Drizzle was a small cookie and brownie place that we discovered way too late. Their brownies featured in our list of best brownies you can get in Karachi. However, they have now shut operations and their outlet in Khayaban e Shahbaz now has the outlet of Mana’s Cookies in its place.
SOL – when it operated out of a house was one of our favourite places for a burger and butterbeer. They later got an outlet at Khayaban e Nishat and closed earlier this year. Their last social media post was on 15th May.
Slamvich, a popular sandwich shop that mostly did takeaway and deliveries closed its outlets this year and their most recent social media post is from 16th July 2023.
Manhattan Express, announced on its Instagram this week that it’s shutting doors to its dine-in space and will be “expanding deliveries”. The cafe became known for its co-working and event space when it first opened in Phase 8. It later moved to an outlet in Khayaban e Bukhari. They are now closed for dine-in.
