Karachi loves its own teas but it also loves yours too. Thai Milk Tea is a spicier and more caramelised version of a milk tea that is popular in Thailand but thanks to Karachi being a city that is always curious about different cuisines, food places and supermarkets here are also starting to offer it.
Some of the flavour notes you can expect to pick up in a Thai Milk Tea come from star anise, cardamom and vanilla.
We found three places that make Thai Milk Tea in Karachi.
3 Places To Have Thai Milk Tea From In Karachi
1.
Shake N Bake
Shake N’ Bake is a cute smoothie and shake place that just opened in Karachi and it’s probably the last place we expected to do a nice Thai Milk Tea. However, their version gets the flavour notes of the tea just right.
They also do a really good lemon tart frappe and a dark chocolate and sea salt shake.
Price: Rs 550 and Rs 660. (depending on which serving size you get)
Location: Khayaban e Bukhari
2.
Sukhumvit
Sukhumvit is a supper club concept hosted every weekend in Karachi at a private residence. The menu consists of Thai food favourites like pad thai, papaya salad, Thai curries and more. They have recently started to stock their Thai Milk Tea at retail shops like Ami’s Store, Nice Supermarket, Tee-Em Mart etc.
Their version is richer and sweeter – which makes sense because the instructions on the bottle tell you to pour it in a glass filled with iced cubes and then it achieves the perfect balance. However, 10/10 on getting the Thai Milk Tea notes right.
Price: Rs 399
3.
Fuchsia
Fuchsia does the best mango sticky rice but their version of the Thai Milk Tea was slightly diluted and a bit weaker in terms of flavour compared to the other two options. Not bad at all but if we had to rank we would pick the first two options.
If you are someone who wants to try making Thai Milk Tea at home, there is an online store in Karachi called Amazing Thai which sells various Thai snacks and milk tea mixes.
