Baos are steamed soft buns which usually have a stuffing. They make for a great, fun snack on the go and in Karachi, they have become quite popular, especially since Karachi Eat, where flavourful small bites with a fun presentation usually get more hyped than bigger meals.
Basic, or (@basickhi, as it’s known on Instagram) is one of the places that has emerged as the place to get baos in Karachi. They have a small menu but one that is dedicated to baos, pho and a few other small bites.

Basic - Quick Recommendation
1. Vietnamese Iced Coffee – that’s it. That’s one thing you can’t miss if you are at Basic. It’s one of the strongest, best iced coffee you can have in the city.
2. The Taiwanese Chicken Bao – simply because the combination of soft, fluffy baos with fried chicken is just perfect.
3. Last but not the least, the pho, which is a Vietnamese soup dish consisting of rice noodles. It is served with a bunch of condiments like Thai red chillies and various sauces. Definitely not to be missed. This started as one of their limited-time specials but has pretty much become permanent because of the popularity this dish enjoys.
4. Mexican Hot Chocolate – one of the best hot chocolates you can have in Karachi.
