Coco9 Launches a Breakfast Menu in Karachi

Coco9 launches breakfast menu in Karachi. In picture: pistachio tiramisu french toast

We keep an intense lookout for new breakfast spots in the city and when Coco9 announced they are re-launching dine-in with their breakfast menu at their Clifton branch, we just had to go see what it was all about.

Location

Currently their breakfast menu is only available at their Clifton branch, located at Punjab Colony. We have to make a note of this: The location is uncomfortable. A user said it’s difficult to find parking and it’s located amongst a horde of mechanic shops. However, the outlet itself is spacious and built nice.

Timings: 9AM to 3PM

This is what the breakfast menu looks like.

Coco9 - Breakfast Review

We immediately went for things that stood out in the menu, which were: the breakfast tostadas, the pistachio tiramisu french toast and the caramel macchiato for comfort.

Pistachio Tiramisu French Toast at Coco9

First up, the pistachio tiramisu french toast. Coco9 has always done above-average desserts and the idea of doing this french toast itself is testament to their creativity. While this was delicious (albeit a bit heavy), it is priced at Rs. 2500+ tax, which when coupled with the rest of your order can rake up a huge bill – even when dining solo.

It is also extremely filling – so that we could take only a few bites of it.

The construction of it though is clever: seared croissant, with a middle crunchy biscuit layer and topped with pistachio cream on top.

Is it a must-have? That’s your call to make.

Coco9 Breakfast Tostadas

In second place are the breakfast tostadas. We really liked that they were going for the freshness of tacos with the pico, the sour cream, the lemon and coriander moment – however, scrambled eggs are too strong a presence for it to be complemented with just this. It needed a bit more tang in the base – maybe a labneh and the eggs to be seasoned super well.

Caramel Machiato coco9

The cup of caramel macchiato was a hug in a mug. Pure guilty pleasure.

We might actually go back to order other breakfast items to see if it’s actually classic orders which fare well?  Overall, we would rate it a 7/10.

The place itself is cozy and cute and maybe if you are just ordering a classic omelette your experience won’t leave room for any disappointments.
