One look and I fell for Easy’s Instagram posts about their fall menu. The mention of a moritozzo inspired donut, a pumpkin spiced latte and a pretzel burger had me convinced this had to be my next date with food in Karachi. Now that I have tried it, do I wish the food had stood me up instead?
Here is what I ordered from Easy's Fall Menu in Karachi:
1. Moritozzo
Donuts are Easy’s thing so I was hoping this would be a home-run. Not quite.
The concept of a “maritozzi” is to have these light airy buns filled with fluffy cream. While the idea of replacing buns with donuts sounds tempting, it actually made it more bread-y.
What was good however was the Lotus cream.
2. Pretzel Burger
This was to have steak, fried cheese patty, chilli mayo, bell pepper and onion in a pretzel bun but in terms of flavour, only the bell-peppers pulled through. I have never seen food that looks this promising and yet tastes this underwhelming.
Actually want to shed a tear, because this picture is making me hungry again.
3. Iced Hot Chocolate
This disappointment is completely on me. Iced Hot Chocolate is just cold chocolate shake and I should have known better than to “fall” for this.
What does one order at Easy (Karachi) then?
The whipped ricotta and mushroom pizza I guess, and the rose lemonade? You tell me.
To fall or not to fall at Easy?
I imagine someone finding their food disappointing at one of the many restaurants in Karachi hardly matters in the grand scheme of things. There are bigger fishes to try, much to do in life and be thankful for.
However, wouldn’t this menu be the best thing ever if it actually delivered on flavour too? I wonder, and salivate as I munch on my airy bag of Lay’s.
