This Cafe Run By Differently Abled People in Karachi Is Doing Food Right
Khudee Cafe recently opened its doors in Karachi with an intention to support Karachi Vocational Training Center (KVTC), which is a training center for the differently abled. While that is worthy of support, we found that the cafe’s menu and ambiance deserve praise for its own merit as well.
Location
Khudee Cafe is located at Commercial Avenue, Phase 4, DHA Karachi.
The cafe itself is a not-for-profit initiative with proceeds from the cafe going to KVTC. People’s first impression of the menu has been that it is pricey but if at a certain price you are able to get good food and also support a good cause, we personally think its worth it.
On our first visit, here is what we ordered and liked:
The Chipotle Beef Bowl was a flavourful beef bowl with various components like beans, sweet corn, capsicum, onions, sour cream and flavoured rice. We would have certainly liked the beef to be a bit more tender but overall as a bowl, it got the flavours just right. The rice in particularly delivered on the Mexican rice flavour notes (and they weren’t just coloured peri rice like the ones at Nando’s).
We can definitely see ourselves ordering this again.
The apple and cinnamon french toast was a delight. The caramelised apples with cinnamon were cooked to perfection and the french toast itself was a generous four toast serving. It was topped with ice cream which complemented it really well.
Their coffee in particular deserves a mention. We really liked our cup of caramel latte.
Overall, the vibe of the place is also really cute and we can’t wait to tell you more about it when we visit it for the second time!
